Overview
In this two-year Master of Arts in Teaching, Teacher Leadership program, independent school educators gain practical tools and strategies to succeed as teachers, advisors, coaches and leaders. With the guidance of experienced mentors and faculty, explore best practices that enrich the classroom experience and elevate student engagement. Mentors also provide personalized support for capstone projects, supporting teachers as they develop and implement important initiatives within their schools.
Objective
The Independent Schools program requires the completion of 32-34 credits minimum, depending on track, over two years.
The M.A.T. in Teacher Leadership program supports educators who want to build their school鈥檚 capacity for success, support professional growth among their peers or serve in a leadership role at the local, state, or national level.
Schedule & Curriculum
The fellowship program is designed to build capacity as an independent school educator while earning your master鈥檚 degree in teaching. Most fellows take one or two classes per semester over two years. Get started with coursework in July to prepare for teaching in the fall or at any time during the year. The live, online and interactive class sessions cover content areas which directly apply to your role as an independent school teacher.
You will develop not just your teaching skills, but your ability to engage and support students outside the classroom as well as an advisor, coach and dorm parent. The program starts with mentors helping prepare you for the classroom and culminates in a capstone project you develop with the support of experts in the field.

Independent Schools Fellowship
If you are accepted into the Fellowship program, you will receive a five thousand dollar Emerging Leader Scholarship. You will have access to our special webinars and Independent Schools Professional Learning Community (PLC). Additionally, you will work with mentors throughout your time in the program.
The Independent Schools Fellowship requires employment in one of our and the completion of 32-34 credits minimum, depending on track, over two years.
