Valerie Barr (Computer Science) received a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for "HDR DSC: Collaborative Research: The Data Science WAV: Experiential Learning with Local Community Organizations" -  in collaboration with Smith College, Hampshire College, Amherst College, Greenfield Community College, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, Springfield Technical Community College, Holyoke Community College and the  University of Massachusetts. The project is for three years.

Ace’s book of poems, Our Weather Our Sea, was named a finalist for a 2020 Lambda Literary Award in Transgender Poetry.

Susanna Nazarova, Evgeny Dengub (Smith College, Russian), and their coauthor, Benjamin Rifkin, were awarded the 2019 AATSEEL Prize for the Best Contribution to Literary Pedagogy for their book, Panorama. Panorama is an innovative textbook engaging the intermediate-level students in a comprehensive approach to the study of Russian, offering a wide array of activities aimed at the advanced-level proficiency in all the four modalities, from the fundamental concepts of grammar to spontaneous speech. Named a 2019 Distinguished Member of the Association for Computing Machinery. The Distinguished Member program recognizes professional experience and significant achievements in the computing field.

Gave an invited talk, "Comprehensive review and strategic planning of a physics department: how to make it work for your program", at the April meeting of the American Physical Society in a session titled "Status of the Effective Practices for Physics Program (EP3) Project" organized by the APS Forum on Education.
